Contest Week!
November 5, 2011This post is finally being written, as Lions Gate has only just now come back to Earth after an amazing contest week in Houston. The entire week was jam-packed with rehearsals, coaching from other directors, tag-singing in the hotel lobby and, of course, competing on stage.
There is nothing like singing on stage, sharing your love of the art form with thousands of cheering fans. It is, of course, a contest, and Lions Gate was competing against the very best in the world. Big congratulations go out to the Melodeers for their first-place win, Ronninge Show Chorus for the second-place finish. We at Lions Gate are extremely proud of our shiny new third-place medals!
The contest wasn’t just about choruses, though. There was a phenomenal quartet contest as well. Members of Region 26 were in four (yes, FOUR) competing quartets: Easy Street, LiveWire, Frenzy and Martini. Frenzy took home the Eighth-Place medals and the award for Novice Quartet and the first place went to Martini! Lions Gate is so thrilled to be home to yet another set of Queens. We couldn’t be prouder of all of our quartets and everyone who stepped on stage during that week.
